Totality! Get Ready for the April 8 Total Solar Eclipse
Dallas is a prime viewing spot for the upcoming total solar eclipse (the last such eclipse to traverse the United States until 2045!). This presentation by astrophysicist/author Jeffrey Bennett — creator of the free “Totality" app — will help you get the most out of this awe-inspiring event. Using the app and his book, Totality: An Eclipse Guide in Rhyme and Science, Dr. Bennett will help you understand the science behind eclipses and help you plan your eclipse-watching experience.

Pathway to a Post-Global Warming Future — A Brief Overview of Climate Science, Consequences, and Solutions
The media often portrays our climate future as a choice between bleak and bleaker, which may seem justified given the many impacts of global warming that we are already seeing. But it doesn’t have to be that way, because if we understand the science behind global warming, then we can also see a pathway to its solution. In this presentation, astrophysicist/author Jeffrey Bennett will give you a brief overview of the surprisingly simple basic science behind global warming and of the consequences we can expect from this warming. He will then explain how we can in principle take the steps necessary to envision a “post-global warming” future, meaning a future in which today’s children will someday be able to talk about global warming as a once-serious problem that we found a way to solve.
